Improvisation for Inclusive Education and Social Change

Performing Bridges is an Erasmus+ cooperation project exploring how improvisation can become a practical tool for education, social inclusion and intercultural dialogue. Bringing together partners from Portugal, the Netherlands and Latvia, the project connects artists, educators, psychologists and community organisations to develop new approaches that strengthen creativity, communication and collaboration through the performing arts.

Rather than viewing improvisation solely as an artistic practice, the project explores its wider potential in educational and social contexts. By combining artistic research, international collaboration and practical learning experiences, Performing Bridges supports educators and cultural professionals in creating more inclusive, participatory and creative learning environments. These objectives are closely aligned with the Erasmus+ priorities of inclusion, civic participation and improving access to adult education.

Throughout the project, participants collaborate across countries to exchange knowledge, test new methodologies and build sustainable educational resources that remain openly accessible beyond the project’s lifetime. The initiative demonstrates how artistic practice can contribute to stronger communities, lifelong learning and meaningful intercultural cooperation.
